I came home from work the other night and boy was I tired. You see, I work 11 hours a day, so when I get home, I’m just alittle bit tired and I wanted to sit in my nice comfy recliner.  Normally, its not that big a deal, because I used to work 4 days, and then I would get 3 days off, but that hasn’t been the case for the last month.  I wouldn’t mind it so much if I was paid overtime, but guess what, I’m salaried.

So I deposit my wallet and keys on the top of the frig, throw my loose change into the change jar, and head in to kiss the boys good night.  I have two sons, ages 4 and 7.  The 7 year old immediately askes if I’ll lie down with him tonight.  I give him the usual “maybe” and start looking for my 4 year old.  Its strange, my 4 year old usually jumps out of bed and hugs onto my leg as I walk towards the bed.  Instead, he’s hiding under the sheets.  I pull the sheets down and ask him how his day was, but he’s strangely quiet.  Normally he’s talking a mile per minute.  So I kiss them both good night and head into my Man Cave.

I love my man cave.  I have my comfy chair, a slightly used recliner.  I have my 52 inch tv.  I have my laptop.  I have my Wii, with Netflix installed, so I can watch movies on my 52 inch TV.  Like I said, I love my Man Cave.  Well, immediately entering said Man Cave, I discover why my youngest was hiding from me:  the foot rest from my recliner is sitting in the middle of the room.

I Love My Comfy Chair

As you can guess, I was pissed.  The boys love to play in my chair, rocking back and forth, pulling the foot rest out.  As much as I love my comfy chair, they love it too.  The metal framework that attaches to the foot rest was exposed, so no more reclining and putting my feet up.

I knew this day was coming.  My comfy chair, the 5th love of my life (wife, both kids, 52″ tv) had seen better days.  I had even been saving up a rainy day fund for its replacement.  While I had been dredding this day, I was also VERY excited, because I had my replacement already picked out. I’d been looking around for some time, searching for my dream recliner.  Women, just so you know, us guys dream of having certain things.  We may not know exactly what we’re wanting, down to the brand and model (alot of times we do though), but we know what we’re looking for.  Alot of the furniture showrooms had these “modern” recliners.  These modern recliners look like they come in a box, assembly required.  I don’t mind putting stuff together, I enjoy it, but a chair needs to be solidly built.  I’m a big guy.  I want to be able to sit and relax in my chair, not worried that it might fall apart under me.  The ACME Sage Microfiber Recliner is a solid piece of furniture.  I can twist and turn, heck, even flop around while taking a nap.

You learn something everyday. Microfibers, a blend of man-made materials, is used in many different products. The reason microfibers are used so much is because they are soft to the touch. The feel of microfibers has been likened to suede. Another prime reason to use microfibers on your recliners is that they are very difficult to stain. The kids can accidentally split their kool aid on the recliner, and the microfiber is actually beed up the liquid for an easy clean-up.

Do I have any regrets over my new recliner?? Yes. My wife told me, the day it arrived, “So much for Father’s Day.” On second thought, I should have let her buy it for me. My rainy day fund could have been saved for a touch screen laptop. But that’s a different day.
